Gov. Andrew Cuomo was among a delegation of governors who traveled to Afghanistan over the weekend.
His trip included classified briefings with the Department of Defense, but he says that despite the push back of al-Qaida and the Taliban, the potential threat to New York is still very real.
Cuomo says the trip was all about doing his job better and preparing the state, but some experts say the extra vigilance may actually be too much.
Dr. Mark Sirkin, director of Mental Health at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, says it's possible too much information could cause people to live in fear or become desensitized to it all together.
"We want to be thoughtful about how much information you give to people, and how alert and hyper vigilant you want them to be," he says.
