With nine days to go until Election Day, Gov. Andrew Cuomo campaigned in Port Chester on Saturday, the home turf of his Republican opponent.
Cuomo was at the Carver Center, directing sharp attacks at Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, touting the results of his Safe Act. The act is one of the governor's signature issues, and one of the most far-reaching pieces of gun-control legislation in the nation.
Cuomo says Astorino favors training school kids to use a gun.
Jessica Proud, an Astorino campaign spokesperson, says the governor is twisting the truth, calling the claim "outrageous."
The governor also criticized Astorino's pro-stance on the issue of hydrofracking, the controversial method of drilling for natural gas. In response, Astorino's campaign team says Cuomo lacks the leadership to take a position on the issue.
