Westchester Republicans voted unanimously Monday night to nominate former Assistant District Attorney Dan Schorr for Westchester County District Attorney.
The 35-year-old Pace law professor and former prosecutor accepted the nomination, saying it was his life-long dream.
"This is one of the proudest moments of my life to say I accept your nomination for Westchester County district attorney," Schorr says.
Schorr worked with Republican Jeanine Pirro to help get current District Attorney Janet DiFiore elected. Now, Schorr is critical of DiFiore's work and her decision to become a Democrat in 2007. Schorr says DiFiore is not on the side of police and has done little to keep convicted criminals imprisoned.
Schorr says he has already raised as much money as DiFiore in donations. Though DiFiore has not officially announced her re-election bid, she told News 12 Westchester last month that she is proud of her record and has earned the endorsement of Westchester Democrats.
Also in the race is Democrat Tony Castro, who has run for district attorney three times.
