Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino outlined his 15-point plan for public education reform in Hawthorne Tuesday.
Speaking at Hawthorne Elementary School, the Westchester County executive explained his plan, which adds three new diploma categories for high school students.
It also eliminates the controversial Common Core program, which Astorino has been vocally opposed to. Astorino accused Gov. Andrew Cuomo of rushing to judgment and implementing the program before he knew what it was about.
Anti-Astorino ads continue to run into September, funded by Cuomo supporters. Astorino says he isn't bothered, as Cuomo himself is under fire for allegedly tampering with the anti-corruption Moreland Commission. Cuomo denies any wrongdoing.
