The Garden of Hope at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern is marking its 10th anniversary.
The hospital held a celebration Monday to commemorate its achievements.
The garden produces about 1,500 pounds of fresh produce that was donated to
local food pantries each year!
It has also served as a therapeutic space for many people beyond the hospital
it resides in. "As they're doing it, they're increasing their oxygenation,
they're decreasing their heart rate, they're remembering things and so to be
able to watch that on a daily basis is a blessing for myself," says Anne
Meore, a horticulture therapist.
During the celebration ceremony, County Executive Ed Day announced The Garden
of Hope will be a recipient of $200,000 from the American Rescue Plan Funding,
for all the good it has given to veterans and residents in need.
