Police have released the identity the man who was found dead inside his Mount Vernon home on Wednesday.

Investigators say Randy Street, 39, was found in his basement apartment on South Sixth Street around 4 p.m. by his girlfriend.

The area was cordoned off as police could be seen going in and out of the house conducting their investigation.
It's not clear how Street died, so police are calling this a death investigation and not a criminal or homicide investigation.

The medical examiner is expected to conduct an autopsy. Depending on the findings, the scope of the investigation could change.
