The Gentle Giant Brewing Company hosted a 5,000 meal holiday giveaway by handing out meals of pork, beans and holiday cupcakes.
Organizers say it was an effort to address food instability in Rockland County.
They even got some extra help from the Tappan Zee Varsity High School Basketball team. "It touches you, you know, that a business their size, you know, will find time, expenses, and everything else to feed 5,000 people," says West Haverstraw Mayor Robert D'Amelio
Gentle Giant Brewing Company plans on hosting another barbecue in June and hope to give away 10,000 meals.
