Let's get a check of your weekend weather forecast with meteorologist, Alex Calama Alex and it looks good. Yeah, no big problems for you. But until midnight tonight, we do have some light showers. So if you have Friday evening plans, you'll definitely want to keep it in mind. Morning fog for Saturday. But that's really the only problem. It's mild and temperatures could even hit 60 in a few spots during the afternoon. We're tracking rain though for Sunday. That is not going to be a beautiful one. Light showers gonna be a huge impact for the evening commute. Just some nuisance weather for drivers, 456 and even seven o'clock, we still have the rain. So dinner time you need the umbrella. It is a gloomy gloomy finish to your Friday. But you wake up Saturday morning to some peaks of sunshine. Temperatures in the low forties or upper thirties. If you're in North Jersey the afternoon, even North Jersey, look at Morristown, you're at 57 degrees at three o'clock and then we're hitting low maybe mid sixties in South Jersey and along the shore. What? That's great for the first Saturday in December. But don't get used to it. We have some big changes on Sunday. The temperatures here still mild but it's just a wash. I mean, we're talking fifties and a soaking rain from noon all the way through dinner time on Sunday. Up to an inch if it's possible. So it really is going to be even more kind of widespread day for rain out of the next few in the forecast Monday looking a little better. Probably mostly cloudy, but so far mainly dry with it. Just a spritz of stray shower and then you're done with the fifties. And here comes the forties, Tuesday, Wednesday, the first day of Hanukkah, first night, it's going to be cool and it's going to be cool in the afternoon as well for really the majority of next week before temperatures rebound for next weekend.

Back now for checking that hyperlocal forecast and you can kind of feel it around a and the rain is coming. Yeah, it is an unfortunate timing here for the evening commute. So you definitely want to have your umbrellas, especially for the next several hours as the rain will ramp up, start off on the light side become a steadier rain widespread all across the borough and not just the borough, if you're planning, let's say to head into the city or out towards Queens or Long Island, you'll see that rain really pretty much 67 o'clock hour everywhere across the city and then it'll quickly tail off. So later on for any Friday night plans, if you're planning to be out late, it'll be dry. You just gotta get through about eight or 9 p.m. And then into the weekend we start off dry and the better half of the weekend for sure is going to be on Saturday expecting the big 60, might be the last time this year we're going to see the 60 degree mark. I know it's already December and it's not common to see sixties or above. Back to reality for Sunday back to about 53 still a couple of degrees above average for this time of year, but it will come with rain and this threat is increasing. Let's take a look at the future cast even as soon as Saturday night, a couple of showers now being picked up on future casts. Certainly possible. Especially if a coastal storm tries to form. That part of the storm system weakens as it comes through Sunday morning, a little bit of a break and then more rain arrives at around lunchtime. So late brunch, lunch plans definitely move them inside or just move those plants to tomorrow because tomorrow's going to be dry into the afternoon, expecting some moderate pockets of rain to be moving in. This is at about three o'clock then heading towards the four and five o'clock hour. Same deal. The potential is there for some heavier batches of rain. So definitely I have that yellow highlight there on that 10 day forecast. And listen, it's a quick mover. So Monday morning, honestly, we're fine morning commute looks good. The rest of the week looks ok. But colder, you said 53 is a couple degrees above where we normally, what is our normal temperature for normal is about 50 right now, still pretty warm and we're gonna be over that this weekend. Right now, we are taking a look ahead to the future talking to meteorologist Matt Hammer about the rest of the afternoon and the weekend, always taking a look at weather wise, trying to help everybody plan ahead. Not only for the rest of today, of course, but into the weekend. And I want to head over to the map right now and get going on the future cast a lot to go over here as we go throughout the day today and into the weekend. So from here on out from right now through about six or seven o'clock this evening, we'll have off and on light rain showers around a little bit of a nuisance. Nothing too crazy. No flooding, nothing like that. Rainfall totals are very light, but notice the light shades of green here through about 6 to 7 o'clock this evening on the futurecast. So periods of off and on light rain showers are with us right now and through about 6 to 7 o'clock this evening overnight, mostly cloudy. There can be some areas of patchy fog overnight and into early tomorrow morning. But tomorrow's going to be the better half of the weekend is it perfect? No, but we have clouds with a few breaks of sun. It's a decent day tomorrow with temperatures pretty mild. Well into the mid fifties for a couple of hours early in the afternoon. Tomorrow night, there could be a couple of rain showers around, but there's a better chance into the day on Sunday for periods of moderate rain. The best chance for the more moderate rain on Sunday is actually during the afternoon and into the evening hours on Sunday. So we'll be keeping an eye on that for you throughout the upcoming weekend. Plan on a pretty wet day on Sunday as it's shaping up so far highs today, upper forties to near 50 have the rain gear with you. We have periods of rain showers around right now through the early evening hours and while we don't have really heavy rain around, just keep in mind that any wet leaves on the ground could make things a little bit slick. That would be the only thing to consider really, uh, with this from here on out today, mostly cloudy skies marries a patchy fog again. Overnight. Tonight, lows on either side of around 40 degrees, we know it could be a lot colder during the overnights this time of the year and outside of some early morning patchy fog tomorrow, it's mostly cloudy, some hints or breaks of sun during the middle part of the day and temperatures jumping up into the mid fifties, which is about as mentioned about 10 degrees above average for this time of the year. I did highlight Sunday for you just so it sticks out. And so you're aware that it is looking like it's going to be a wetter day as of this point, mostly cloudy to partly sunny on Monday. Breezy near 50. But then after Monday, it turns a little bit colder for the rest of next week. Highs in the lower to middle forties starting on Tuesday, dry weather, Tuesday through Thursday before more wet weather moves in on Friday.

I'm meteorologist Rich Hoffman, your hyper local weather forecast heading throughout the rest of our Friday. We do have the rain showers moving in west to east through riverhead. You can see the rain showers through this evening. After daytime, highs in the fifties going out this evening. After sunset, temperatures are going to be in the forties. We'll have the on and off rain showers into the morning hours of your Saturday. So here's our storm system, rain showers overspreading Long Island as of now west to east of Long Island, Nassau County seeing some of those showers. So evening plans, they will be impacted by a little bit of wet weather going through this evening. You see around eight o'clock, everyone's raining and the threat of rain kind of tapers off into tomorrow morning. So the rest of the day it's cloudy with the showers developing west to east. It may be raining in your neighborhood right now. Already, 42 tonight, scattered showers. Sun goes down at around 425. Here's nine o'clock, looking at the wet weather from the east end to the west side of Long Island. Temperatures are in the forties. We get a little bit of a lull with some drizzle and some fog on Saturday. And then the second wave of rain comes in towards overnight hours of Saturday. Then watch what happens on Sunday. We'll start to see the wet weather moving in and some steady rain for Sunday afternoon. Here's what we have today. Highs are in the fifties, showers developing over Long Island forties tonight with scattered showers and again, mild weather over the weekend.

Our community camera in Norwalk today, a little bit overcast there but it seems as though the temperatures are decent storm. March team, meteorologist Jonathan Cuban is standing by with a look at the weekend. Hey there. Hey, what's going on? Mark? Now, listen, those temperatures are gonna continue to hang around the fifties sitting nice and mild heading into the weekend. Saturday is gonna be the better of the two Saturday better than Sunday because we're staying dry Sunday, we have some rain to watch for after we work through the rain through this afternoon. Here's look at your five o'clock hour, looking at your future chaotic and a little bit of some light shower activity starts to move in. So the commute along I 95 as well as the mirror could be a little bit tricky. And again, we're seeing those showers stick around till about 678 o'clock. And then we'll start to see things move out, dry out and better conditions as we head into the late night. Now, we could see a little bit of some patchy fog on the wake up for your Saturday morning. But again, we're dry, temperatures are gonna be pretty decent into the afternoon as well with numbers in the mid ff, but we're gonna work with more cloud and sun for the first half of the weekend. And then it really only gonna continue to grow gloomier and gray as you look ahead into your Sunday. So clouds all day, Sunday, Saturday night looks good clouds all day, Sunday. And we're gonna see that first round of some wet weather just a little bit after the midnight hour. And then you'll catch a little bit of a break for the early parts of your morning. 89, 10 o'clock, early parts of your afternoon there, we have that steady, that heavier rain moving in. So maybe driving back home, got a flight to catch back here across the tri-state. Could be a little bit of a delay. A little bit of a doozy that steady to heavy rain really continues. Heading into your Sunday evening and Sunday night, things clear out as we head into your Monday and as far as rainfall totals again, 1/10 to maybe a quarter of an inch for this first round for Friday. And then we're looking at a little bit more about an inch to add on to that after Sunday's event. Again. We're looking pretty good for the first half of next week, temperature wise. Then we're back to some chillier weather to round out the end of next week.

Garden Guide: Keeping hydrangeas looking good

You're growing hyd ranges in your garden this summer. You might be noticing some dead branches that you've never seen before. I did notice that. Actually, meteorologist Alex explains why and which plants might be holding up better this season. This time of the year, hydrangeas really shine. But I know there are many gardeners out there that are kind of disappointing in the way their hydra look because of yes, we have to rewind back to winter time. Check out this. We have some damage even still showing up on this hydra ship with all the dead branches that usually just aren't a problem at all, especially in my yard, which is very sheltered. So the reason why these hydrangeas had issues isn't because it was a cold winter. In fact, many of us actually had our warmest winter months on record. We broke numerous hot weather records all winter long. It's the fact that when it got cold, it got really cold close to zero across most of the tri state with wind chills down to 20 degrees below zero. And that was the problem with plants like hydrangeas, even fig trees, a lot of significant damage to those, anything that is kind of borderline sensitive to our coldest nights out of the year are going to have problems when it just drops from mild to freezing cold because the sap within the stems is still moving during mild winter days. But what's interesting is perennials that don't always come back did really well because the ground never got cold. Like these can, these are subtropical plants that aren't really reliable every year in the tri state. But obviously these came back with force in my garden. I'm meteorologist, Alex Kaia.
