A Yonkers gang leader has been sentenced to 30 years behind bars for a long list of crimes, including murder.

United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara announced that Da'Quan Johnson, 25, was sentenced Friday in White Plains federal court. Johnson received 20 years on racketeering charges and 10 years on murder conspiracy. Johnson was found guilty in the shooting death of Tyrone Arthur, of Yonkers, in 2013.

Bharara says that Johnson was the leader of a gang that spread violence in Southwest Yonkers near the Schlobohm Housing Project. "Da'Quan Johnson was a leader of a violent, vicious street gang that terrorized the streets of southwest Yonkers with shootings, assaults, and drug dealing. On December 27, 2013, Johnson and his fellow gang members participated in a shooting that resulted in the senseless murder of an innocent man, Tyrone Arthur," Bharara said in a statement.

Twelve other members of Johnson's gang have pleaded guilty to various crimes.
