Hundreds gathered Saturday for the funeral for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge co-founder and Yonkers native Pat Quinn at St. John Baptist Church.

Quinn died last Sunday at 37 years old. After being diagnosed with ALS in 2013, he went on to impact millions of lives with the viral Ice Bucket Challenge - with millions dumping freezing water over themselves to raise awareness for ALS research.

Quinn helped to raise over $220 million to help find a cure for ALS, which is the most money raised for any cause outside of a natural disaster or emergency.

Quinn's funeral was attended by many members of both the Yonkers police and fire departments, as he was named an honorary member of the police force in 2019.

"It's important to take every moment and live in a way that moves you, and moves others,” he once said. “Make your time here purposeful and authentic."
