Family and friends mourned the loss of a woman killed in a car accident at her funeral on Saturday.
Police say Vaughna Jarvis, 23, died of massive internal injuries after she lost control of her car on May 17. Police say the car veered off the Taconic State Parkway, struck a ditch, rolled over and struck a tree before returning to the road.
Crowds of mourners attended a Bronx funeral home to pay their last respects to Jarvis. Many honored the memory of Jarvis by wearing her favorite color lavender.
Jarvis was a student at Dominican College and would have graduated from the school's nursing program the day after her death.
On graduation day, Jarvis' mother accepted her daughter's nursing degree on stage at the Westchester County Center. As a further testament to Jarvis, the late student was inducted to a national nursing honor society.
