Dozens of family members and friends expressed outrage and grief Saturday as they mourned the stabbing death of 16-year-old Douglas Williams, of Mount Vernon.
Those who attended the funeral described Williams as a quiet young man, who was more into studying than the drama on the streets.
Police say Williams was walking with a friend on North 8th Avenue just blocks from his home when a vanload of people confronted him. A fight ensued, and Williams was stabbed in the chest and torso. Police believe the motive could be gang related.
Sources tell News 12 Westchester Williams was allegedly part of the Bloods gang and the attackers may have been with the Crips gang.
Police have made four arrests and say they are looking for two more suspects.
"The gangs and the violence, I want it to stop," says Cadesha Johnson. "I don't want to see another one of my friends in a casket."
