More than 200 people packed a Bronxville church Friday to say goodbye to a legendary district attorney who was considered a giant in law enforcement.
Carl Vergari served as Westchester district attorney for 25 years, making him the longest-running DA in the county?s history. He died last weekend at age 84 after suffering injuries during a fall. Scores of police escorted Vergari?s family to the church packed with judges, attorneys, police and county officials.
Vergari was remembered as a gentleman and a wonderful family man. His colleagues say he was always fair and valiant as a district attorney. Those in attendance remarked on how Vergari touched so many lives.
