A fugitive has plead guilty to rape in Mount Vernon, according to the county district attorney's office.

Galo Herrera, 53, was arrested by Mexican authorities in February and brought back to the United States.

Authorities say he forcibly raped a young girl in Mount Vernon between December 2006 and January 2007.

Herrera fled the area before he could be arrested, according to authorities.

He is expected to be sentenced to 18 years in prison next month, and will receive 20 years of post-release supervision and must register as sex offender.
