Winter?s wrath is being blamed for yet another water main break Friday, this time closing down a busy street in Elmsford.
Police officers on patrol spotted ice and water spilling out onto Route 9A at around 5 a.m. Crews had to dig into the ground in order to locate the exact spot where the 6-inch main broke. Route 9A southbound between Route 119 and Van Wart Street was closed while the main was being repaired.
Workers say after the ground freezes and the streets get a lot of traffic, the shock causes the main to break.
