Three breast cancer survivors will be ready to dance for a special cancer benefit this week, thanks to a Sleepy Hollow dance studio.
The owners of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Sleepy Hollow provided free dance lessons to the women so they can take part in Dancing with the Survivors. The national event Thursday will raise money for the breast cancer charity The Pink Fund.
The women say the dance lessons have renewed their spirits.
"It's a monumental achievement for me to be here, hardly able to stand several months ago, to be here to dance," says Deidra Barnes, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She will be participating with Anouk Sackman and Matie Marano.
Westchester's Dancing with the Survivors will be held Thursday at the Stickley Audi on Tarrytown Road in White Plains.
