Former Ossining High School basketball star Soniya Chong plays her first professional game at Madison Square Garden Friday against New York Liberty.

The Dallas Wings drafted the 22-year-old Chong in April. She is among only two Hudson Valley women currently playing in the WNBA. The other is Stephanie Dolson, Chong's college teammate and a Minisink Valley graduate.

"Going from college to pro, it's like going from high school to college," Chong told reporters at a morning workout at the Garden. "There's always that extra jump, and being here in New York and being a pro makes it extra special."

Chong has found success so far at two of those levels, winning a state title at Ossining and three national championships at the University of Connecticut.
