Residents of a Fordham apartment building are unable to return home following a fired that sparked in the basement.
Police and security still remain outside the multi-family home on Davidson Avenue, which is without heat and electricity.
According to the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, a total of 26 apartments were affected. A total of 17 families were displaced and nine tenants have registered with the Red Cross.
The questions that still remain are how the fire started and when will residents be able to return home.
One of the residents says that some of the apartments may have been illegally converted, but no word yet on if that is true.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Buildings for comment, but has not heard back.
