The very first Zaro's Bakery is now closed after 55 years in the Parkchester section of the Bronx.
Many customers stopped by Monday to pick up some baked goods and say their goodbyes.
The Zaro family, which has operated the bakery for four generations, says they couldn't stay due to the high rent. They are hoping to relocate.
The Zaros opened their first bakery in the Bronx in 1927, and moved into the Parkchester location in 1959.
