First responders came to the rescue of a kitten in Yonkers.
The Yonkers Fire Department was doing routine fire prevention at a home on North Broadway on Saturday.
The family living there requested smoke alarms checks - and to rescue a trapped kitten.
The family told firefighters they couldn't reach the kitten but made sure to give it food and water by sending a pot down tied with a rope.
Firefighter Patrick Murphy III went down a ladder to get the cat and firefighter Angelo Rojas brought it to safety.
The black and white cat has been named Tux and was adopted by the family.
