Firefighters in Elmsford battled a challenging fire and icy conditions at a home on Sears Avenue.

According to Elmsford Fire Chief Peter Deluca, the fire started in the back bedroom on the first floor of the home.

"Just another fire we've had recently in the extreme cold weather. It makes it very difficult, but everyone did a good job and worked safely."

Everyone was able to evacuate the home safely.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
