An elderly couple experienced a frightening ordeal Friday after a fire sparked in the garage of their Woodbury home on Pleasant Drive at 11:00 a.m.
They say the husband was home at the time of the fire and was able to escape without injuries.
Firefighters say they had trouble retrieving water from nearby fire hydrants and had to use water from other fire trucks on the scene.
They say they were able to overcome the hiccup and had enough water to extinguish the core of the fire in the home.
The crew says the two-story house burned to a crisp and that the garage is gutted and the roof caved in on itself.
Officials say two firefighters suffered minor burns and are currently being treated.
Firefighters are ensuring that there no hotspots due to the fire.
They say the fire is under investigation.
