A brushfire broke out in Port Jefferson Station Monday night.
The fire was on Route 112 just north of Birchwood Drive, officials say.
It started around 6:30 p.m.
Fire officials tell News 12 it didn't take long to get the flames under control, but it kept sparking back up.
Crews remained on the scene to put foam on the fire.
There's an increased risk for fires on Long Island due to dry conditions.
Last week, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a burn ban that will be in effect until Oct. 15.
