Residents at a Yonkers apartment building are picking through the remains of their possessions after fire ripped through their building on Sunday.
Two firefighters were injured, four cats were killed and more than 30 people were displaced after a massive blaze on Van Cortlandt Park Avenue.
Officials say the fire started on the third floor and spread to the fourth floor. Roughly 70 firefighters from Yonkers and surrounding areas brought the fire under control within the hour. They also made a dramatic rescue of a woman from her fourth-floor apartment.
The fire sparked just after 3:30 p.m. Firefighters had to cut through the roof to get it under control.
Officials say no residents were hurt.
Despite police caution tape, residents could be seen today going into the building and bringing out clothes and other essential items.
The cause of the fire has not been released yet, but fire officials tell News 12 that faulty wiring will prevent residents from returning to their homes for weeks.
The Yonkers Police Arson Unit is investigating.
