A fire forced the evacuation of a Mount Vernon apartment building on Tuesday night.
Fire officials say the flames broke out around 10:45 p.m. on West Grand Street.
They say the fire sparked in a storage room on the first floor, and smoke quickly filled the hallways.
People living in the building were rushed out, and no one was hurt.
None of the apartments were affected by the fire, and residents were able to return to their homes.
