Traffic on the Throgs Neck Bridge is finally moving again after a fire forced thousands of commuters to be late to work.

Early Friday morning, a blaze in a construction shed underneath the bridge left rush hour drivers stuck in standstill traffic for miles.

More than 130 firefighters, including a marine unit, went to the scene to extinguish the fire. Officials say knocking down the fire was challenging because of its unusual location.

Traffic was diverted to the Bronx Whitestone and RFK bridges, according to MTA Bridges and Tunnels spokeswoman Catherine Sweeney. By 1 p.m., the Queens-bound lanes were reopened. Two of the Bronx-bound lanes were opened hours later.

Officials say two firefighters suffered minor injuries.
