A fire forced several families out of their homes in Yonkers this morning.
Crews say the fire started around 12:30 a.m. behind a multi-family home at 165 Linden St.
Officials say one tenant and six firefighters were taken to the hospital.
They are all expected to be OK.
The Red Cross has set up a shelter in the gymnasium of the Enrico Fermi School a block away from the building. Cots, blankets and care packages were given to the fire victims.
The Red Cross team is working to make everyone comfortable while they try to find housing for the families.
A total of 39 people, including about 24 children, have been displaced from their home.
Investigators say the fire apparently sparked on the ground in the back of the building near a fire escape, possibly from a cigarette.
