A fire destroyed at least one apartment in an Ossining complex Wednesday, displacing almost two dozen tenants as it spread to two neighboring units.
It happened at around 3 p.m. on Charter Circle, off of Highland Avenue.
Fire Chief Matthew Scarduzio says firefighters responded quickly and contained the blaze, preventing more damage.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, according to Scarduzio, but investigators say the fire began in the kitchen.
Several people were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, officials say.
The investigation is ongoing.
