Westchester County is set to receive federal assistance following severe rain and flooding in September, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced this morning.
President Joe Biden has approved Hochul's request for a major disaster declaration, providing federal aid to Westchester, Kings and Nassau counties for recovery and reconstruction efforts.
The declaration encompasses various forms of assistance, including debris removal, emergency protective measures, and repairs to public buildings and infrastructure.
This support comes after parts of Westchester experienced over 6 inches of rain within a 24-hour period on Sept. 29, prompting Hochul to declare a state of emergency.
