The Democratic primary for Greenburgh town supervisor is shaping up to be one of incumbent Paul Feiner’s toughest political fights in decades.
Feiner, who has held the job for 35 years, is facing a challenge from Barry McGoey, who says affordability and town finances are at the center of his campaign.
McGoey says residents are feeling squeezed by rising costs and taxes. He argues that the town must address fiscal issues raised in a recent forensic audit.
The January audit cited gaps in fiscal management, including tens of millions of dollars in uncollected taxes.
Feiner says he does not object to the audit itself but believes it is being used as a political weapon. He says voters value his accessibility and record of getting things done.
The Democratic primary is June 23.
