The Golden's Bridge Fire Department, along with local EMS and the Croton Falls Fire Department, took park in its annual water rescue training Tuesday.

The training took place at the Muscoot Reservoir.

The drills involved the use of a boat, flotation devices and rope to rescue someone who may be drowning.

Golden's Bridge Fire Chief Jimmy McManus says it's important to prepare firefighters for water emergencies. He's also warning against drinking and swimming or boating.

"The odds for an accident are that much greater on the water as well you know. Alcohol impairs your judgment and impairs your ability to act and on the water. We just can't have that,” says McManus.

The drills served as a refresher for the firefighters to organize who does what in the case of a water emergency.  Drills are also conducted in the wintertime for ice water rescues.

The training comes after a man went missing in Poughkeepsie last week in the Hudson River.
