Police: New Rochelle crash kills father, child; 2 children recovering from surgery

A father and a child died early Sunday morning and two other children are recovering from surgery following a crash saw the man’s vehicle plummet from an overpass on the Hutchinson River Parkway.

A father and a child died early Sunday morning and two other children are in surgery following a crash saw the man’s vehicle plummet from an overpass on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. First responders responded to an accident on Pelhamdale Avenue at the intersection with the Hutchinson River Parkway northbound exit ramp.
When they arrived, New Rochelle police say they found a gray Nissan Altima with the occupants inside after it had collided with a brick retaining wall.
Police say the 36-year-old male suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The three children were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi with severe injuries.
Twin brothers, 7, were found in the back seat. One brother was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other was undergoing surgery for severe internal injuries.
An 11-year-old female was in the front passenger seat and underwent surgery for internal injuries. Police say she is recovering and in stable condition.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident. The identities of the victims are being withheld.
