It was not a typical summer day on Wednesday at the Cortlandt Yacht Club in Montrose as a fire ripped through three docked boats.
Fire officials report that the blaze began on one large boat and quickly spread, taking with it two other large boats. Firefighters used foam to quickly extinguish the fire before it was able to spread to the dock. However, they were unable to salvage the boats as approximately $300,000 of personal property went up in flames. The National Guard is investigating the cause of the fire, although no foul play is believed to have taken place. No one was on board the boats or injured in the fire.
