The family of a woman who was allegedly beaten to death by her boyfriend says he pretended like nothing happened.
Police say Deborah Waldinger was brutally beaten to death by her boyfriend, Luis Rondon, in their New Windsor apartment.
Waldinger was found dead by a maintenance worker just days after her last phone call with her mother, Ana, on Oct. 6.
The family says what shocked them the most was how Rondon acted after her death.
They say he called the family from California the day they found out she was dead and pretended like nothing happened.
Rondon was extradited to New York where police charged him with murder.
Her family says the relationship between the two was complicated because Rondon was married. And, they say he was getting ready to leave his wife prior to Waldinger's death.
"That's what started the whole altercation to begin with and it kind of drove him to do what he did," said Waldinger's cousin, Sebastian Matute.
Rondon has pleaded not guilty to murder charges and is being held without bail.
