A former Mamaroneck teacher was sentenced to six months in jail and 10 years probation for raping a teenage girl and molesting others.
Omar Rodriguez pleaded guilty to raping a 16-year-old girl when he was a choir director in Connecticut. He also fondled a number of his music students at the Hommock Middle School between September 2003 and March 2006. During Rodriguez?s sentencing, the rape victim spoke calling him ?a manipulator and a liar.? Ten orders of protection were issued against him.
The judge called Rodriguez a ?sophisticated predator who was more dangerous than criminals who snatch children off the street.? He says he couldn?t give Rodriguez any more jail time because he received the maximum years of probation. The judge also says he agreed to the plea deal in order to spare the victims from testifying at a trial.
