A special event was held in Yonkers this weekend to raise money in memory of a high school sports star.

The Matthew Wallace Foundation is named after the 17-year-old Yonkers native who lost his life in a tragic accident back in 2013.

The event at the Fairways at Dunwoodie showcased food and wine from all over the county.

Local merchants donated raffle prizes with the goal of helping homeless women in Yonkers. "If Matthew was here today, he would be amazed that everyone came out in his memory to support a foundation that's in his name," says Matthew’s mother Jen Wallace.       

Wallace's family works to keep his memory alive by giving scholarships in his name through the Matthew Wallace Foundation.
