The Hudson River Sloop Clearwater is holding a special 12-hour concert and fundraiser in honor of Mother's Day.
The virtual event is a special tribute to Toshi Seeger, the wife of legendary folk singer and activist Pete Seeger, who helped pave the way for environmental work in the Hudson Valley.
Toshi launched the local organization in 1969 and made a big impact in the Hudson Valley through her environmental work.
The concert, which will be broadcast on Facebook, will raise funds for the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater's environmental action initiatives and educational programming.
"We have a very strong history of protecting the Hudson River and doing everything we can to ensure the well-being of everyone living in its watershed and behind the scenes," says Manna Jo Greene, director of the organization. "Toshi Seeger worked to make sure Pete's dream and dream of the other founds was actually materialized."
The event will feature more than two dozen folk and grassroots activist musicians from around the country.
