Nothing compares to the sights and sounds of nature, especially at the Cranberry Lake Preserve in North White Plains during a Road Trip: Close to Home.
There are 10 miles of trails, all yours to explore. Some visitors even call this a hidden gem within Westchester County.
"It's a 197-acre nature preserve, home to a glacial lake, fantastic wildlife, hiking trails and very interesting history…It's just beautiful and pristine, this is like a secret paradise," says Taro Ietaka, of Westchester County Parks.
Take your hike to new heights at The Cascade where gorgeous views lie right before your eyes.
And a little further down the trail is The Stone Chamber, and yes, it is as mysterious as it sounds. No one knows how the stone cave came to be in the middle of the wilderness.
The next stop on this road trip to White Plains is a nostalgic store with a unique take.
Girl AGain sells donated, gently used American Girl Dolls, clothes, toys and books. "The idea of the store is to have a safe place for women with autism and related learning disabilities so they can develop job skills," says Claudia Castaneda, of Girl Again, Yes She Can Inc.
