The Empire City Casino hosted a blood drive today in Yonkers.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and other officials attended the event in the hope of inspiring community members to donate blood.
The New York Blood Center says it is counting on the community for help at an especially critical time of year.
Organizers say that people don't have to be registered to donate blood, and walk-ins of every blood type are welcome.
