The Elmsford Fire Department is collecting donations for a family who lost everything in a fire just before the holidays.
Firefighters say it happened on North High Street Thursday.
The family asked the fire department for help, and the department didn't hesitate.
"People have been stopping by now. We've had some donations of cash cards, which is awesome for the family. This way they can get what they need and they're dropping off clothes as well," says Elmsford Fire Chief David Signor.
The family's cat died in the fire.
Firefighters know the fire started in the kitchen but are still trying to figure out how.
