An Edgemont restaurant has been closed indefinitely after a fire tore through the kitchen.
The fire happened Thursday afternoon just after 1 p.m. at the D & A Smokehouse Restaurant on Central Park Avenue.
Fire crews from White Plains, Yonkers, Hartsdale, Scarsdale and Fairview worked with Greenville crews to battle the blaze. Crews not only battled frigid temperatures, they also had to break open the roof of the kitchen in order to put the fire out.
The eatery was closed at the time, but next-door businesses were open.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but was deemed not suspicious.
Utilities to the neighboring businesses had to be shut down for a short time, but are back up and running.
