Eastchester's first ever Farmer's Market is now open for business.
There are over a dozen vendors at the market selling fruits, vegetables, seafood, pasta and more.
Sisters Jaxie and Sam Friedman decided to open the market after seeing how their father's store, Country Market, has been serving the area over the years.
"The produce that you'll find here is local and it's in season," Sam said. "That was really important to us because what you'll find at some other farmer's markets is that some of the produce can actually not be as local as you'd be expecting."
Neighbors say they're excited to finally be able to buy products close to home.
"We've been traveling outside of Eastchester to go to farmers markets on the weekends,” said Margaret McCarthy of Eastchester. “So we like to come here, do our shopping and get our fresh produce.”
The Farmer's Market will stay open every Sunday through October.
