Eastchester school district officials say they will not be able to finish all their construction projects before the new academic year begins.
School districts across Westchester County have been racing to get their projects completed. But in Eastchester, the Anne Hutchinson School on Mill Road has presented even more difficulties.
Construction delays at Anne Hutchinson have halted the school's opening. The 430 students who were scheduled to start school there will instead be bused to the neighboring Greenvale School. Students will share classroom space for the first three days of school.
Through letters, phone calls and e-mails, the Eastchester superintendent told parents that classes could not be delayed.
?Kids should be in school [and] parents I?m sure are ready for them to go back to school,? says Dr. Marilyn C. Terranova. ?I think in the end we will do our best job to make the first week of school as normal as possible.?
