Outrage over the troubled East Ramapo School District reached a boiling point once again Saturday as a small but vocal crowd of protesters in Spring Valley's Memorial Park demanded the ouster of a school board member.
They called for the removal of board member Bernard Charles.
Parents and residents say the board, which is dominated by Orthodox Jewish officials, has been mismanaging the public school district.
"You know, there are certain mandated things that you're supposed to have in school like art and music that the children of East Ramapo don't have," said Melissa Rosen, of Chestnut Ridge.
A class-action lawsuit has been filed against the board by parents seeking reimbursement for the costs of a 2012 trial against the district.
