A Dutchess County woman whose husband was fatally struck by a driver just feet away from their home in March is voicing her frustrations with the ongoing police investigation.
“The man who did this is still sitting at home and I am here without my husband,” said Vanessa Rizzo.
Marc Rizzo, 57, was killed while walking on New Hackensack Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
Police say a 72-year-old driver in a Ford pickup truck hit Rizzo from behind. There have been no arrests - something that’s upsetting for Rizzo.
“I was told after 2 1/2 months they would have answers to this. The police haven’t reached out to me. I’ve had to reach out to them," said Rizzo. "It’s hard to trust when you’re not being told anything.”
Town of Poughkeepsie police say they’re close to resolving Rizzo’s case and that pedestrian deaths typically take six months to a year to investigate.
