A mother from Dutchess County says her child was denied medical care last week for not wearing a mask.
She says after her son sustained an injury and brought him to the Children’s Medical Group in Hopewell Junction. She says they weren't being seen by a doctor because they were not wearing masks.
Once their masks were on, she was ultimately told to bring her son to urgent care. The mother, who asked to not be identified, told News 12, "no face coverings should ever come before an emergency."
The Children's Medical Group says they will never turn away a child, and that they follow New York state's mask mandate. A New York Department of Health spokesperson says face masks are required in all health care facilities, regardless of vaccination status.
