An employee at a Dutchess County apple orchard and vegetable farm has been sentenced for stealing $118,000 from the business.
Concetta Lozito was sentenced in Beekman Town Justice Court last week, according to a court clerk.
According to the owner of Barton Orchards, Lozito worked for them over the past seven seasons and oversaw all registers and helped young employees.
The missing money was discovered last October.
Lovito, who pleaded guilty to petit larceny, was also sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered not to return to the farm.
She is also a teaching assistant for the Arlington Central School District.
Calls on her status have not been returned.
Barton Orchards owner says they were shocked when they learned of the missing money, and have asked the school district to dismiss her.
