A single-car crash overnight claimed the life of one person in Croton-on-Hudson.
Police say Richard Zeoli, 58, of Montrose, was traveling north on Route 9 just before 1 a.m. today when he somehow lost control of the car. He ended up going between the two guardrails that separate the exit ramp from the parkway, knocking down an exit sign in the process. The black Honda Accord then went down the embankment and hit a tree head on.
Investigators say that although Zeoli was quickly pulled out of his vehicle, he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Zeoli was the only one in the car, and no other vehicles were involved.
Police say an autopsy is being performed, and they are still investigating what caused the crash.
