The Westchester community celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Yonkers Monday.
The Nepperhan Community Center held their 34th annual banquet Monday, and commemorated what Dr. King accomplished for black communities.
They also celebrated local leaders leading by his example.
"It's an important day that we pause and we reflect on what he did for our nation, how far we've come, but yet how far we've got to go," said Nepperhan Community Center Executive Director Dr. Jim Bostic.
Some of the honored guests included Westchester County Executive George Latimer and Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard.
