Highway departments in the Hudson Valley are taking a
COVID-safe approach to dealing with the upcoming snowstorm.
The Town of Wappinger has more than 100 miles of roads to
salt and plow, and 72 active covid-19 cases
among its residents.
So far, the highway department has not had an outbreak among
workers, but they are still following the proper
procedures to keep employees safe. "Each driver has its own truck, so
they'll be driving separate the entire storm. When they want to rest, they can
come in and they have their own little hiding spot and they can rest. They can
rest there until they go back out," says Highway Department Superintendent
Michael Sheehan.
Officials are urging people to not park on the streets and
ask that people don't push snow out into the roads.
